James Douglas “Jd” Campbell, Sr.

James Douglas (JD) Campbell of Lexington, SC was called home to Jesus on Thursday April 23 rd , 2020 . He ha d very kind and loving Doctors , Surgeons and Nurses.

JD’s wife of 65 years preceded him in death on December 17 th , 2018 and grandson James Devon Campbell passed October 10 th , 201 5 and son in law Mark E. Infinger on September 21, 2017.  JD is survived by a large family. Survivors include daughters: Rose C. Campbell, Ida Mae Pizzillo , Patricia A. Campbell , Barbara L. Limehouse, Janet D. Infinger and Loretta C. (Frank) Williamson. Surviving son: James D. (Mary Theresa) Campbell , Jr. and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren as well as a large extended family all over the country. JD was born November 9 th , 1933 in Fort Worth , Texas. He graduated high school while living in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduation JD joined the Air Force. He served active duty for over 26 years; including being a veteran of the Korean and V ietnam campaigns . He retired as a Senior Master Sargent with lots of military allocates.  He then returned to the printing trade, like his father and his brothers. JD loved fishing, singing and playing his autoharp.

He was ordinated as a deacon at Gethsemane Baptist Church , SC in May of 1976. JD was an active member of Round Hill Baptist Church in Lexington under Pastor Don Turner and dearly loved the Lord and his church family. His family and friends knew him as a loving, kind, funny, Christian man whom did much for many and we will feel his loss. He was always helping family and friends in whatever way he could. He took great pleasure in reading the scriptures and sharing his faith and knowledge whenever he had the opportunity. He even took his bible down the hall to share with a hospital mate while in the hospital this week. Heaven has a new choir member and is now singing with Ida again.

JD was buried beside his wife, Ida at Dust to Dust Green Burial C emetery in Swansea, SC by Mos eley Funeral Home in West Columbia. In lieu of flowers ; please send an y memorial donations in memory of JD Campbell to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home at 800-868-2624, which was a cause close to his heart. A memorial service will be held at Round Hill Baptist Church after the Pandemic restrictions are lifted.
