A service to celebrate the life of James Aaron Gantt, 87, of Lexington will be held at 6pm Thursday June 30, 2022 in the chapel of Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Gantt will be buried at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to theAlzheimerAssociation. Alz.org
Mr. Gantt passed away Monday June 27, 2022. He was born July 15, 1934 in Orangeburg county. Mr. Gantt enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951, at 17 his mother signed for him and he served 22 years, retiring in 1973. During his military service he was a Firefighter for 14 year then in Audio Visual for last 8 years. Mr. Gantt Was employed with the US Post office and served 22 years starting in 1974 and retired in 1996. He loved his family and would Pick up his sisters and brother to go to Shealy’s and other eateries quite often. He would have them over and grill steaks until he was unable to do so. Mr. Gantt met his wife at a Christian Dance hall, where they would go dancing several times a month until he was unable to in 2019. He also lived traveling the United States in his RV. Mr. Gantt will be sorely missed by his entire family, Rest easy in Jesus’ arms my Jimbo!
Mr. Gantt is survived by his loving wife, Janelle Spaulding Gantt ; Sons, Dennis (Glenda) and David (Karen); sisters, Thelma G.Stewart and Juanita G Williams; Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Gantt was Predeceased by mother, Leola Poole Gantt, father, George Festus Gantt, brothers, Wallace Gantt and Charles Gantt, Sisters, Pat G. Hennessey and Ailene G. Chancey
