James Buxton “Buck” Terry, Jr., 78, died Tuesday evening , Feb. 13 at his home in Columbia. He had been released earlier in the day from Palmetto Baptist Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan Duncan Terry, and his son Duncan Buxton Terry.
He was predeceased by his parents James Buxton Terry, Sr . and Frances Wells Terry, of Orangeburg.
A graduate of Wofford College (’63, Kappa Alpha). He completed OCS and served four years in the Navy.
Over a 30 plus year banking career, Buck had positions in Spartanburg, Columbia, Anderson, Orangeburg and Sumter. He made many positive contributions and friends throughout these communities. He served twelve years as a Commissioner appointed by the Governor to the
SC Department of Mental Health.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 19 , 11AMat Keenan Chapel, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Columbia followed by a celebration of Buck’s life.
