Henry “Poppy” Douglas Senn

December 16, 1935 — December 15, 2022

Henry “Poppy” Douglas Senn of Pelion, SC peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2022.  He was born on December 16, 1935 to Henry Riddick Senn and Mary Olive Swygert in West Columbia, SC.

Mr. Senn served his country in the Air National Guard and had a successful career in sales for many years.  He was a resilient man and at times a bit stubborn, but at his core, he was fun-loving and filled with life. He wanted the best for his children and instilled a very strong work ethic in them.  Friends knew him as “Country” and he proudly embraced it.  He loved fishing.  He loved the beach.  He loved gardening and working on equipment, and, of course, he was an avid Gamecocks fan.  If he wasn’t sitting in the stands at Williams Brice Stadium, he was in his recliner watching the game.

Mr. Senn is survived by his loving wife, Anne Lever Senn; children, Debra (Chuck) Craft, Henry “Chip” (Sissy) Senn, and Marvin Russell Senn; grandchildren, Brittany (Ricky) Sexton, Chante (Rainah) Craft, Amber (Jerry) Sexton, Catlin Craft, Courtney Senn, Carrie Senn, Caleb Senn, Jordan Senn (Justin) Boreman, and Makenzy Senn; 12 great-grandchildren that knew him as “Poppy”, Reagan Sexton, Ryleigh Sexton, Brit Sexton, Whitney Maddox, Austin Maddox, Carter Craft, Kinley Craft, Tyler Sexton, Adalynn Sexton, Owen Sexton, Parker Fairey, and Teagan Fairey; and his brother, Kenneth Senn.  Henry was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Denise Senn.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
