Harry Francis Mcateer, Iv

Harry Francis McAteer IV was born September 12, 1947 in Steubenvile OH the son of Harry and Eleanor and brother of Susan. He grew up in nearby Colliers, WV out in the country. He and his friends roamed the woods and fields, fished and swam in ponds and enjoyed life to its fullest. He enlisted in the Army in 1969 and served in Germany and Viet Nam where he earned the Bronze Star for Valor and the Purple Heart. He left the Army after Viet Nam and worked in the Weirton area for a few years before leaving to work in Texas and California. He was a manufacturing supervisor at Apple and Compaq. He relocated to Augusta GA in 2001 where he held several jobs, then moved to West Columbia, SC in 2005 where he retired. Harry was active in the community, involved with the Purple Heart Society and helping with the homeless until increasing, service-related health issues impacted his activities. He died September 5 ^th 2021 in West Columbia. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Julie Peters of Jupiter, FL and her family, his loving sister Susan and her husband Chris of Williamsburg, VA, numerous nephews and their families and his dearest friends Samantha Dorn, her daughter Sarah, husband David, and her brother Sam Donnan who took loving care of Harry in his final years. He will be missed.
