George Dean Brant, 80, of West Columbia, SC., went home to meet his savior on June 23, 2026.

He was born in Barnwell County on July 18, 1945 to James B. and Edith Juanita Brant. He was a graduate of Barnwell High School (Class of '63) and went to Columbia Commercial School in Columbia. He then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1967. He received the Coast Guard Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal. Upon returning home, he worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a Technician.

A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and friend. Dean enjoyed life. Even though, the last several years of his life were complicated because of cancer, he never gave up or complained. He was a Christian who lived his faith.

Dean leaves to cherish his memories: his granddaughters, Selene Brant (Patrick Wessel ) and Elizabeth Brant : great-grand children Grayson and Waylon; sister, Anne Atkins and brother, Bobby Brant, both of Barnwell: many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors. He was predeceased by his parents, his sons, Jimmy Dean Brant and Gerald Brant, his brother, Jimmy Brant,and his sister, Linda Brant Creech.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The family wishes to thank Michelle Brasington, friends, church family, neighbors and the Medical Services of America (Hospice) for the support and kindness during this time. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Saluda River Baptist Church on 34599 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia at 2:00 p.m.
