Ernest J. French

March 3, 1966 — April 20, 2024

Ernie (Ernest) French was called home to be with his late mother on April 20th 2024. Born March 3rd 1966 in Potsdam, New York to Joyce and Gerald French Sr.

Ernie proudly served his country as an Aviation Ordnance Munitions Technician in the United States Marine Corps from11/17/86 to 11/16/1990 and was based out of Yuma Arizona at times and also served in Iraq during Desert Storm. He wore his uniform with honor and even in civilian life he never lost the “Oorah” spirit and mentality. Upon returning home he found his niche in construction work, a “Jack of all Trades”, tackling all kinds of projects. He was a conscientious, dedicated and hard worker and his customers could always depend upon him to do a quality job. If Ernie said “he’d do it” he did, as simple as that.

He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie (Perrine) and his sassy (not so loving-but loved) cat Maxwell.

In addition, also survived by: His father Gerald French, Sr., father and mother-in-law Mike and Sandy Perrine, brother-in-law Troy Perrine and his wife Denise.

Also his loving daughters, Amanda, Melissa, Haley and Rylee;sons-in-laws Shawn, Shaun, and Nick; His grandkids Zoey, Eli, and Nathan.

And in addition, by his side throughout all his life, two sisters, Lisa Mealor, Lyn Ellison, and his big brother Gerald French, Jr. He also has many nephews, nieces, and friends near and far.

Ernie had been fighting a battle with cancer for several months and is now at peace.

He was a deeply loved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend and will be forever missed. The family invites and welcomes you to share some time with us and pictures or memories you have of Ernie. It is our wish and certainly his that you come celebrate his life and we laugh, reminisce, and smile together during this time.

The family appreciates everyone’s love and support. If you wish to donate or send flowers, please contact his daughter Amanda Johnson at (amanda2shawn@gmail.com).
