Emmie Sue Barnes

Emmie Sue Deaver Barnes, 84, of Chapin, SC; passed away peacefully in her home on July 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. Emmie Sue was born in Columbia, SC to Emma Artilize Lewis and William Sheppard Deaver in the Columbia Hospital.
She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert Odelle Barnes, Sr. (Bobby), infant daughter Mary Elizabeth Barnes (Betsy), 2 brothers: Lewis McClellan Deaver (Buddy) and William Sheppard Deaver, Jr. (Winkie); 2 sisters: Barbara Lou Shade and Joe Marion Harvey (Cissy).
She is survived by a daughter, Mitzi Kennedy (Larry), a son Robby Barnes (Jean), 3 grandchildren: Daniel Kennedy, Hannah Kennedy, and Will Barnes, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
A requiem mass will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) on 1512 Blanding Street on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10:00 am with burial in the Church Memorial Garden after. The family will receive friends afterwards in the Parish Hall.
