   Elizabeth Mattox Perry, age 99, peacefully passed away Tuesday August 12, 2025. Betty, as she was known by friends and family, was born February 13, 1926, in Argyle, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband James Bartlett Perry and her grandson James Matthew Brown.
Betty was an adventurer in every sense of the word. In her early twenties she worked as a meteorologist for the weather bureau in Fairbanks, Alaska. After marriage, she and her husband settled in Columbia, SC where they raised American Saddle Bred horses. She became a student of horsemanship, winning several world championships. Betty was an avid traveler, having the opportunity to travel the world. Betty’s bags were always packed.
   Betty lived a life of service to her friends, family, and to her Savior Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in all auxiliaries in ward, stake, and regional volunteer callings for her church. She worked tirelessly gathering genealogical records. Betty had the opportunity to serve a full-time 7-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Public Relations department of the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
    She is survived by her brother Chester Mattox, her children, daughter Joye (Dan) Lang, Sharon (Greg) Brown, Monty Perry, and her grandchildren, Kenzie (Ben) Riddle, Perry (Amanda) Lang, Daniel Lang, Candice (Andrew Coleman), Kimmie Perry, Mary Elizabeth Brown, Perry Anne Brown, 10 great grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday August 22, 2025 at 10:00am
