Earlean Butler Cutter, born February 28, 1931, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2020 at the age of 89. A longtime resident of West Columbia, South Carolina, Earlean is preceded by the death of her husband John Frederick Cutter. She is survived by her son Cary Cutter, son Craig Cutter, daughter in law Melissa Cutter, granddaughter Tara Maddock (Dan), grandson Chase Cutter, grandson Garrett Cutter (Sarah) and great-granddaughter Hollis Dupre Maddock.
Earlean was a loving and faithful wife for over 60 years, a devoted and caring mother, and a nurturing grandmother. She was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church in West Columbia and loved the Lord with all her heart. She took great pleasure in reading the scripture daily and sharing it whenever she had the opportunity. Earlean’s life is exemplified in Psalm 119:47 which states “And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.” She also treasured being outdoors whether in her beautiful, manicured yard or spending time at the beach. Earlean was a passionate supporter of the University of South Carolina Gamecock athletics. She was also extremely blessed to have a large circle of dear friends.
As a faithful member of Mt. Hebron UMC, Earlean was involved in Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class, BeeBoBo Circle, Senior Choir, Senior Handbells and Mt. Hebron UMC Women. She also served on the Board of Directors for God’s Helping Hands and was a lifetime member of the South Carolina Parent Teachers Association.
Along with her husband, she owned and managed Cutter Concrete Company for over 35 years. She then was employed as a bookkeeper for Pawley’s Island Inn and 82 Queen restaurant for over 10 years. Her career culminated working again for family in her son Craig’s successful business, Cutters Insulation.
Due to current social conditions, a small graveside service will be held Friday, April 24, 2020 at 11:00AM at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church in West Columbia. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting the online guest book at www.moseleyfuneralservice.com . In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mt. Hebron UMC Building Fund.
