Donnie Shumpert

Donnie Colie Shumpert, born November 23 , 1942, went to live with God and his ang els on April 24, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn (Hembree) Shumpert . He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Colie H. and Willie Mae Martin Shumpert and Brother-in-law Terry LeCraw.

He is survived by sons David C . ( Donna) Shumpert and Dwane W . ( Jennie) Shumpert , both of W est Columbia , b rothers, Teddy R ( Gloria) Shumpert of Gaston and Bobby J (Cindy ) Shumpert of Sandy Run , s isters Carolyn (Edward) Campbell of West Columbia, Deborah Shaw (Marion) of Conway and Hope Le Craw of Jacksonville , FL. Seven grandchildren, Valerie, David Jr, Christan, Kimberly, Melissa, Patrick and Brittany. Ten great- grandchildren , Paige, Paisley, Phoebe, Preston, Cole, Liam, Ridge, Logan, Racheal, and Haleigh. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Andrea H. Bowers of Lexington and Janice "Jan" H. (Gene) Schofield  of West Columbia plus m any nieces and nephews.

Donnie graduated from Brookland-Cayce H igh S chool in 1961. Following graduation, he w orked for SC Vocational Rehabilitation and later founded Technical Maintenance and Installation .  After retiring he drove a bus for Lexington 2 School District and worked with special needs children. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday April 27, 2021 at Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery, 2250 Pine Street , West Columbia, SC 29170 . The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Monday April 26, 2021 at Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service. Please make memorial donations to Laurel Baptist Church, Building Fund.
