David L. "Bus" Coulter, Sr., 75, of Newberry, SC, went to be with Jesus on November 13, 2014 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in East Rainelle, WV on August 18, 1939, a son of the late Roger William and Ora Gay White Coulter. David graduated a three-sport star from Parkersburg High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Marietta College on a football scholarship where he was later inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Sandra L. Bayne Coulter, on July 5, 1958. They had 58 glorious years together. He was well-liked and respected as a Transportation Manager where he worked for DuPont/Conoco for 32 years until his retirement. He was a born-again Christian and actively served his Savior most of his life in many capacities including deacon, treasurer, Children’s Church worker, and in constant evangelism.
David is survived by his son, David L. Coulter, Jr. and wife, Alena of Chapin; and daughters Camille L. Coulter of Newberry, Brie C. Bramlett of Columbia, and Kristen L. Paddock of Irmo. David was also proud of his seven grandchildren, including the late Matthew Lyn Coulter, Meredith Bevin Coulter, Betsy Camille Bramlett, Jacob Andrew Coulter, Barry Nathanial Bramlett, Makenzie Grace Paddock, and William Coulter Paddock. He has four siblings: Sue Carpenter and husband , Karl of Parkersburg, WV; Joe Coulter and wife, Nancy of Vienna, WV; Ruth Bryan and late husband, Tom of Marietta, OH; and Ginny Cottrell and husband, Jack of Vienna, WV. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Newberry County Memorial Hospital’s ER and ICU for treating David with such compassion and dignity.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Chapin Presbyterian Church at 5PM. The Celebration service will immediately follow at 6PM.
