Services for Darla Smith will be held Thursday , September 9 th at 1 pm at Faith Baptist Church, 123 Faith Church Rd., Swansea , SC .

Darla went home to be with her momma and daddy in the arms of the Lord on Sept 3 , 2021 . Darla was born in Salem, MO to the la te Robert and Doris Dittmar. She is survived by her daughter Samantha (Quinn) and their children Camron, Jaden, Riley, Rhyen , and Kori , of Pelion , SC, s on Robbie (Samantha) and their children Adrian, and Daedric , of S ea men , OH, and son Stephen Alex of Oklahoma City , OK. Her b rothers are Bill (Ruth ie) of Buffalo , MO , Richard (Susan) of Aiken , SC, and S tephen (Sue) of Swansea , SC , o ne sister Ruth Slice of Swansea , SC . Her n ieces and nephews are Mickie, Billy, Jeffery, Risa, Bobby, Carlie , Richie, Walter, Stevie, Tyler. She was predeceased by a brother Jeffery Dittmar.

Darla received her bachelor ’ s degree at Southwest Baptist C ollege (now SWBU) in Bolivar, MO . She began her career as a social worker for the state of SC. She later received her master ’ s degree and began the career she loved teaching children with disabilities. She developed “Jeremy’s League”, a softball leagu e for special needs students at Calhoun County High School. She also invited and assisted other area schools to participate . Darla gathered sponsorships for the teams from area corporations and businesses.
