Daniel K. Hamilton

Daniel K. Hamilton passed fro m this life at his home on March 19 , 2019.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019, at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

Born D ecember 22, 1958, in Miami, Florida , Dan was the son of Jim mie L. and Pat ricia Hamilton .  After his graduation from Lexington High School he attended USC before joining the USAF.  He lived most of his adult life in West Columbia .  A colorful character , Daniel , who had a special soul, never met a stranger on one of his many walkabouts of the Meeting Street area .  H e was known simply as “ Red ” to most of the local community.  Dan loved all animals, w as a known tinkerer and collector of many things, and a grand master of the unicycle .  He was artistically talented with many hobbies, most recently the creation of rock balancing sculptures which decorate his yard .

He is survived by his parents, his brother, Rev . John Hamilton (Pam), his sisters, Kelly and Holly Hamilton, all of Columbia, and numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, whom he adored.

Daniel was greeted in Heaven by his beloved older brother, Jimmie Jr., his Nana, his birth mother, Geraldine Hatch Hamilton, and many other loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbia Rotary Alzheimer ’ s Research Fund (CART); East Columbia Gideons ; Shriners Children’s Hospital (Greenville); US Church Planting; Greenlawn Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice.
