West Columbia - A memorial service for Charles Owens “Chuck” Lundy, III will be held at 3PM on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Churc h . The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Chuck, the eldest son of Emma Rawl Snelgrove and the late Charles O. Lundy, Jr, was born on January 8, 1958 and went to his heavenly home on November 27, 2017. He had been in declining heath for some time.
Chuck was a graduate of Airport High School, USC College of Journalism, and Midlands Technical College. He w orked in Respiratory Therap y for nearly 20 years as a health care provider and an educator.
He served three years active duty in the U. S. Naval Reserve onboard the U.S.S. Forrestal (CVA-59) and as a member of the commissioning crew (plank owner) of the U.S.S. John D. Rodgers (DD-983). He also served in the S.C. Army National Guard.
He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and on various committees.
Chuck is survived by his daughter, Emily Hannah, who he loved with all his heart. Other survivors include his Mother; stepfather: Ralph Snelgrove; brothers: Barry (Billie) Lundy, Ricky (Nancy) Lundy, and Gary (Kristie) Lundy; sisters: Cheryl (Danny) Austin and Jimi Rabon, along with beloved nieces, nephews a nd cousins . Chuck was prede ce a s ed by his grandpare nts: Hortense and Charles O “Charlie” Lundy , Sr, Eron and Thomas E “Bus” Rawl, Sr; and his niece, April Austin Shaw.
Chuck was the family historian and loved to tell a good tale. He never met a stranger, and loved to make people laugh. He also loved hunting and the great outdoors.
