Charles Alexander Flenniken , Jr.
“Chuck” 73 of West Columbia, South Carolina.
Passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends Saturday April 15, 2017. He was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the son of the late Charles Alexander Flenniken , Sr. and the late Gertrude “Trudy” Lee.
Chuck was a loving and devoted father to his three sons. Papa Chuck and friend to all that knew him. Chuck proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Sergeant First Class (SFC), also served with an elite group of men in Project Delta Green Beret Special Forces. Chuck served three tours in Vietnam and is a Purple Heart recipient.
Special thanks to long-time friends Jimmy and Susan Brown, also to Amedysis Hospice (Jasmine, Dana, Jackie & Rob) for all their care and compassion, and to his caregiver Freda Crozier.
Chuck loved his family and friends. He enjoyed being part of his grandchildren’s lives and attending as many special events as possible. He was also a huge Carolina Gamecock fan.
Chuck is survived by his sister Peggy Rowley, Nephew Charles “Charlie” Rowley and Niece Teresa Rowley- Hinch .
Also survived by his Three-Oaks Cha rles Alexander “Alex” Flenniken III, Christopher Alan (Sharon) Flenniken , Bradley Andrew Flenniken and his eleven grandchildren.
Chuck will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Fort Jackson National Cem etery Thursday April 20, 2017 at 12:00PM.
