Carolyn B. Gillis

Carolyn Bartlett Gillis, 82, of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at NHC of West Columbia.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 5, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Moseley’s Funeral Home in West Columbia, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Burroughs.

Carolyn was a graduate of Crown Beauty College and worked as a cosmetologist for over 20 years, proudly owning two salons in Columbia. She later served as Deputy County Registrar with SCDHEC in Fairfield County and retired from the Lexington County Clerk of Court’s office. She loved quilting, sewing, and dancing, sharing joy through her creativity.

She is survived by her children Tracey Wilkes (Jerry Summer), Brian Delesandro (Jeannie Siegel), Kevin Delesandro(Sissy) and bonus daughter Vicki Delesandro; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandpup-Tucker and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, John Kendall Gillis, and her parents and siblings.

Carolyn will be remembered for her generous heart, lively spirit, and deep love for family.

The family would like to thank Caris Healthcare Nurse, Melinda and all the NHC staff, Nurses and Caregivers for all the love and care they gave our Mother over these last four years.
