MAULDIN – Billy Eugene Pruitt (The Nut), 83, of Mauldin, SC, passed away on December 13, 2017 at Magnolia Manor in Inman, SC.
A native of Greenville County, son of the late Elmer and Jessie Brannon Pruitt, he was a retired salesman for Carson Nut and Bolt Company, affectionately known to his customers as “The Tootsie Roll” man. He was a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, shag and square dancing.
Surviving is his wife, Helen Pruitt of Mauldin; a daughter, Robin Pruitt Williamson (David) of Swansea, SC; a son, Alan Pruitt (Tuesday) of Taylors; a step daughter, Pam Liverett (Jim) of Forest City, NC; a step son, Robert Shirley (Ginger) of Simpsonville; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, Jim Pruitt.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Mauldin United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dick Herd and son-in-law, David Williamson. A private burial service will take place at a later date.
Visitation will take place prior to the service, 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Mauldin United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Rescue Mission, 575 W Washington St., Greenville, SC.
