Mrs. Betty Jean Spires, 72, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday October 11, 2025.
Left to cherish Betty’s memories are her loving husband of 15 years, Phillip Spires, children: Donald Sox and his wife Kim, Eric Sox and his wife Kristina, Clint Spires, grandchildren: Corey Sox, Luke Sox, Marshall Sox, & Gabby Sox, brother: Johnny Hunter, fur baby: Jack.
Betty was born in Waynesboro, GA. She was the daughter of Thomas Edward Hunter and Edna Pearl Quick Hunter.
Betty is preceded in death by her brothers: Grady Hunter, Thomas “Tommy” Hunter Jr., Joseph “Joe” Hunter. Also her husband of 27 years, Monroe Sox.
Betty retired from Resource One Medical Billing in 2015. She is a member at Lexington Church Of God. She loved spending time with her family, taking trips to the mountains, and tending to her flowers and plants. She will be remembered for her famous “Macaroni & Cheese”.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lexington Church Of God “Building Fund”.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to: Dr. John Mattei at The Practice LLC, Natalie O’Kelly at South Carolina Oncology, and Lighthouse Hospice for the care given to Mrs. Betty.
A Memorial Service celebrating Betty’s life will be at 11:00AM Monday October 13, 2025 at Lexington Church Of God with Bishop Mark Crumpton and Rev. Terry Wilder ministering. Visitation will be 10AM to 11AM and the Memorial Service will begin at 11AM. Burial will be held at First Baptist Church Of Gaston.
