Benjamin “Ben” G. Liggett

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Benjamin Gerald Liggett (Ben), age 43, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 while in the hospital surrounded by family. Ben was a loving and beloved father, husband, son, brother, family member, and friend. Ben was born on February 14, 1977 in Akron, Ohio to parents Michael and Kim Liggett. When Ben was two, his family moved to Irmo, SC where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Chapin High School in 1995 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in health science from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2004. In 2006, Ben married his best friend, Amanda Maybin Liggett. They completed their family when they welcomed daughter Ryliegh on September 13, 2011. Ben is survived by his father, mother, wife, and daughter as well as two brothers, Kevin Liggett of Irmo and Collin (Susanne) Liggett of Blythewood. Additionally, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Hardesty, of Sumter, two nieces, Hudson and Wylie and two nephews, Jaxon and David, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Dorothy Liggett, and his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Nan Wylie. Ben was an avid sports fan, and he enjoyed cheering on his Gamecocks with his family and friends. He also enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitar. He would travel near and far with his family and friends to see his favorite bands perform.
