Archie C. Woodbury left this earth on Monday, December 7, 2015 to be with his beloved wife, Arlene B. Woodbury.
It was love at first sight when he met Arlene and her 3 small children in Charleston, SC where he worked at the Cigar Factory.
They were married on October 20, 1961 and celebrated 48 years together.
To their union, a very special daughter, Diane, was born.
This very special man raised and loved all 4 kids as his own.
He was their Dad in every way that mattered.
He will be greatly missed but the family finds great comfort in knowing that he is in heaven with his beloved wife and son. Mr. Woodbury was a veteran and served as assistant police Chief of the town of Hemingway for many years.
Archie was born July 12, 1932 in Conway, SC, the son of Geneva Hucks Woodbury and Robert Reese Woodbury.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene B. Woodbury, his parents, brothers Benjamin (B.G.) Woodbury, James L. (Bud) Woodbury, Robert Leo Woodbury, sisters Virginia Bailey and Esther Cooper, and a son, Randy Reese Woodbury.
He is survived by three of his children, Charles Edward “Chuck” Alford of Lexington, Denise (Dawson) Mitchell of Pine Ridge and special daughter, Diane Woodbury of West Columbia; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are daughter-in-law, Wendy Woodbury of Chambersburg, PA and two sisters, Brittie Lee Hucks of Rock Hill, SC and Rebecca Spires of Pelion, SC.
He will also be missed by his constant companion, his little dog “Prissy”.
Visitation will be at 11:00 AM and Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor David Mullins at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Congaree Baptist Church in Pine Ridge, where he was a member.
A Graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM at Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Hemingway, SC by his former pastor, Reverend Tom Brown.
