Ann N. (Nevil) Knowles

Ann Nevil Knowles, 84, died Friday, December 16, 2016, at her home in Chapin, South Carolina.  She was born on August  5, 1932 in the family home of her grandfather, Dr. John C. Nevil, of Register, Georgia.  She is predeceased by her parents, John “Paul” Nevil and Mary Jane Moseley Nevil and a brother, John C. Nevil II.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Paul Clements Knowles, her sister, Elna Nevil Strickland (Jerry), and sons, Rev. Mark Nevil Knowles (Susan) and Jimmy Clements Knowles (Cindy).  Grandchildren include Laura Ann Knowles Cavanaugh (Matt), Matthew William Knowles,  John Michael Knowles (Jenni ), Madeline Knowles Wilkins (Jay), Mallory Ann Knowles, Graham Nevil Knowles, Grace Catherine Knowles, David Alvin Knowles, and one great-grandchild, Hadley Mae Knowles.

Ann graduated from Statesboro High School in 1949 and Georgia Teachers College in 1953.  She taught high school in Ashburn, Georgia where she met her future husband, Paul Knowles.  She was active in many bible studies and a charter member of Chapin Presbyterian Church.

A Funeral Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Statesboro, GA on Friday, December 30 at 2:00 PM , with a brief committal service to immediately follow at Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Chapin Presbyterian Church or Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery.
