Almeria Creel Chadwick Turner
West Columbia, SC-Almeria C. “ Blu ” Turner, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at home on March 16 th , 2019.
Born May 23 rd , 1928 to John Harley Creel and Bessie Sessions Creel in Conway, SC, “ Blu ” was the youngest of 12 children. She is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Gilbert Meredith Turner. Blu is survived by her daughter, Lisa C. Tjaarda (John) of West Colu mbia; her son Dr. Stephen C. Chadwick (Nancy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC ; step-daugh t er, Cynthia T. Tolsma (David) of Camp Hill, PA ; step-son Joseph L. Turner (Lana) of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandson John E. Tjaarda (Allyson); grandson Andrew S. Chadwick; granddaughter Lydia R. Chadwick; granddaughter Audrey E. Chadwick; granddaughter Patricia T. Smith (Roy) and great-granddaughter Zoe Smith; grandson David Turner (Ashle y), granddaughter Anne T. Beckett (Max) and grandson Joseph D. Tolsma . “ Blu ” is also survived by her sister Wyoma B. Bean (Clifford) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
All her life “ Blu ” was an avi d reader and student of history, ancient civilizations and art. She and Gil were fortunate to be able to travel across the US, as well as throughout Europe, to India and the Far East. “ Blu”and Gil spent part of every year at the “ Blugil , their beach house in Cherry Grove, SC where they hosted family and friends for over 30 wonderful years making many happy memories for all. In her early 60’s “ Blu ” embarked on a 20+ year career as a real estate agent in Salisbury, MD before returning to SC to be nearer her children and extended family.
Almeria “ Blu”Turner had a beautiful life, and will be missed by the many family and friends she has left behind. We know, though, that she has been welcomed home by many who went before and we will look forward to the day we can be reunited.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the clubhouse at 128 Agape Village Court in West Columbia, SC on Thursday, March 28 th 2019 at 6:30 pm. A family service will be celebrated in Conway SC at a later date, to be announced.
Memorials may be made to the Margaret Elizabeth Bessie Creel Endowment, Conway Medical Center Foundation, 300 Singleton Ridge Rd., Conway SC 29526 (cmcfoundationsc.com) proceeds from which go to fund nursing scholarships.
