It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Real Johnson of Lexington, SC on March 7, 2025, at the age of 70.
Alan was born on May 2, 1954 in Ipswich, England to the late Real Victor and Beatrice May (Elvin) Johnson. He was a graduate from Dreher High School and attended Warner University in Florida. In his youth, Alan participated in many sports, but he especially enjoyed softball. He was an ardent South Carolina Gamecock and Carolina Panthers fan. Alan retired as a manager after a successful career at Dollar Tree.
Alan was a devoted brother. Mark will forever cherish the memories of Alan’s incredible ability to invent games to keep him entertained, all their backyard baseball games and their times together playing video games. In addition to being a loving brother, Alan also embraced his role as stepfather and quickly formed a lasting bond. He was their number-one supporter, always there to offer his love, support, and encouragement. Although Alan is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
In addition to his parents, Alan’s wife, Nancy G. DeWitt, predeceased him. He is survived by his brother, Mark Johnson (Cynthia) of Columbia; nieces Brittany Baker (Aric) of Lexington, Whitney Calhoun (Neil) of Hopkins and Corey Johnson of Columbia; two great-nieces, Emery Johnson and Caleigh Baker, two great-nephews, Eli Calhoun and Deagan Baker; his aunt, Gloriana Johnson of Arizona; and many cousins. Alan is also survived by his three stepchildren, Sarah Lewis (Will) of Lexington, Nicole DeWitt of Florence and Paul DeWitt of Summerville; and four grandchildren, Evelyn DeWitt, Logan DeWitt, Hannah Lewis and Madeline Lewis.
