John Minh Diep (Diep Minh An), aged 83, passed away the morning of June 14, 2020 from complications due to ALS. John was born on October 9, 1936 in the village of Nam An ,Ba Vi District, Vietnam. John married Mary (Nguyen Thi Vong) in August 1968. John and Mary emigrated to the United States in 1980 with their four kids, through the help of St. David's Lutheran Church. He loved his adopted country, St. David's, and its congregation.
John was a lifelong learner. He held a wide range of jobs from the food industry, to a machinist, to a restauranteur. In his retirement, he held part time jobs to learn new skills in electronics and just to meet people. John never met a stranger. He always welcomed you with a handshake and a wide smile. As an avid traveler, John had visited many countries. Part of his joy of traveling was meeting new people, cultures, and food.
John is survived by his wife, Mary and his children; Lan, Long, David, and Mimi, his grandchildren; Dylan Diep and Hannah Diep, his siblings; Diep Thi Toan, Diep Kim Thanh, Diep Minh Coung, and Susan Weimer, his daughter in laws; Monica Vu and Cindy Diep, and son in law, Lee Gronkiewicz.
Preceded his death were his sisters; Diep Thi Cuu, Diep thi Cam, Diep Thi Hieu, and his brother, Diep Minh Tinh.
Please join us to celebrate John's life at St. David's Lutheran Church on Saturday June 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM.

Please know I am sending my wishes for strength & healing to you, your mom, your brothers & sister, and your entire family. I am truly saddened that I did not get a chance to know your father, but your love and reverence for him have always spoken volumes. May the pain of this loss fade and the memories you share with each other keep your father's light shining bright upon each of you.

My love always to you and your family,
Cassie Garrett

My sincere condolences to the entire Diep family on the loss of John. You are a very special family to our family (Von and Barbara Shealy family). As you know, my parents immediately considered you a part of our family. I attached a picture from early after your immigration to the US. Until we see them all again, we know they are in God's hands now, so are at peace.

All my love and prayers for all of you during this difficult time,
Sarah Shealy Evans
