A funeral service to celebrate the life of Melvin “Mitch” Odell Mitchum will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Palmetto Church of Christ with Entombment to follow in Woodridge Memorial  Park.  The family will receive friends Friday, January 26, 2018 at Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service, 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In Lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Palmetto Church of Christ, 7000 Nursery Road, Irmo, SC 29063.
Mitch passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his home He was born in Columbia, South Carolina and was the son of the late Melvin P Mitchum and Trudella H. Mitchum. He retired from SCE&G after 32 years of service as an associate manager of transportation. He was a member of the Pine Island Club and Palmetto Church of Christ and had actively volunteered with the Special Olympics in the past.
Mitch is survived by his wife, Norma H.  Mitchum; children,  Mark S. Mitchum and Dana Deneene Alvarez; granddaughter, Cierrah Jayde Alvarez and  stepdaughter, Susan  R. Pendley (Howard). 
The family would like to Thank Latoya Holton of Compassionate Care Hospice for all her special care.

So sorry to read of Mitch's passing. I worked with him for many years and remember him as one of the nicest and most gentle person you would ever meet.Rest in peace my dear friend.
