Michael Allen Loney, 73, of West Columbia, SC passed away Tuesday October 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Norris Loney; son Michael (Sarah Davenport) Loney and daughter Shannon Loney Carpenter; grandchildren Johannes White, Garrick Loney, Isabelle and Brody Carpenter; siblings James E. Loney, William E. Loney, Patsy Joyce and Horace (Margrit) McWhorter, Jr. 

Mike was born in Providence, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Claude and Sarah Loney. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 30 years, worked as a Technical Production Manager at CarMax, and was currently an event staff employee for the University of South Carolina where he was able to work and enjoy many sporting events. Mike was also a well loved coach and umpire at Midland Dixie Youth Baseball in Pine Ridge from the late 70s into the 90s.

The family will receive visitors on Friday October 13 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Moseley Funeral Home, 914 Meeting Street West Columbia, SC 29169. A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held in the Chapel of Moseley's on Saturday October 14 at 2:00 pm. Memorials can be made to Midland Dixie Youth Baseball, PO Box 6382 West Columbia, SC 29171-6382.

Dear Bobbi and family, Dave and I are very saddened to learn of your dear Mike's passing. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of family and one who left a lasting impression of caring and patience to those who knew him. His welcoming smile was true, his warmth genuine. We will miss him and remember the happy occasions that we spent at your home.

I wanted to reach out to you during this sad time to offer my condolences. While nothing will completely take away your grief, by meditating on God's promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."
