A funeral service for Robert Laverne Reese, 78, of Cayce SC will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in West Columbia.
Laverne was called home to his Lord and Savior on March 19th, 2024, and was surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 5th, 1945, to Magdalene Sightler Reese and HuleyCarrol Reese. Laverne proudly severed his county as a Weapon’s Storage Specialist (SP4) in the United States Army. After his service he married Janice Ferguson Reese on November 8th, 1968. The two were happily married for 55 years. Laverne Retired from Rose Talbert Paint Company in 2005. He faithfully attended Shiloh United Methodist church his whole life. He was a tremendous fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks, rooting for them in person and at home. More inportant than his love for the Gamecocks was his love of his family. Laverne was a consistent supporter and cheerleader of those he loved so dearly.
Laverne was predeceased by his parents, sister, Joyce Amick, and brothers, Earl Reese, Carrol Reese, and Richard Reese.
He is watching over his family Janice, his two sons, John R. Reese his wife Robin A. Reese, Jason B. Reese his wife Stephanie Montgomery, his two grandsons of whom he was so proud; J. Hunter Reese his wife Sara, and A. Cooper Reese, his brother, Ronald Reese and sisters, Rose Marie Johnson, Connie Derrick her husband Norris and Debra Medley her husband Steve, and leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church in West Columbia, SC in remembrance of Laverne Reese.”
