Francis N “Sammy” Jones

October 18 1930 - September 14 2021

 Francis N “Sammy” Jones was born in Florence County on October 18 1930 to Nathaniel G. and Rebecca LeNora Brown Jones. He died at age 90 on September 14 2021.

He graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 1951 and enlisted in the US Navy. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1954, and was involved in the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Guam.

Sammy also played football and softball while stationed in the Military.

Upon his return he went to work for Columbia Cooling & Heating with his brother Rudy. And enjoyed a 40 year career in the HVAC business.

He married Patricia LaMotte in 1954 and had 2 children. Son; Francis N. Jones Jr and Daughter; Julie Elizabeth Bouknight.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Cramer Jones, Marie Barwick, Charles “Rudy” Jones, Miriam Lybrand, and Margaret King. Also former spouse Patricia Jones.

Sam was an avid BC High School and Carolina Gamecock sports fan.

Sam was inducted into the Brookland Cayce Athletic Hall of Fame on September 14, 2012

He was a member of First Baptist Church West Columbia and Sinclair Masonic Lodge #154

He is survived by his Daughter Julie Bouknight  (Chuck) of Columbia and Son Francis N. Jones (Kimberly) of West Columbia and granddaughter Morgan Jones

Pallbearers will be Willie A. Whaley, Lucky Jones, Charles Epting, Randy Stewart, Robbie Sheppard and Carroll G. King Jr.

Funeral services will be held at Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service on Saturday, September 18,2021 at 12:30. Visitation will be held at 11:30. Graveside service will be held at Celestial Memorial Gardens following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the BC High School Foundation and Safe Cat’s Coalition.

 The family would like to thank caretakers and friends. Lexington Medical Center and Lexington Medical Extended Care for their time and kindness.
