John Franklin Vesey, 89, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Agapé Hospice House & Suites in Lexington following complications with surgery.
He leaves his companion of over 20 years, Flora McGee; his daughter, Nicki Trent, his daughter, Jauncy Kwiatkowski, his late daughter Gloria Lather, plus seven grandchildren (Tony, Jim, Stephanie, Stacy, Angel, Rich, and Trent), 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; as well as Flora’s family including Connie (daughter) and Melissa (granddaughter), plus many close friends.
Born and raised in Warren, Ohio the son of Frank and Marie Vesey (Baker), he moved to the Carolinas in the early 1970’s.
After high school John joined the Merchant Marines and served honorably for four years, then he worked in a steel factory in Warren, Ohio. In 1962, he and his wife (Pearl, now deceased) and three daughters moved to Toledo, Ohio where he continued in the steel industry.
John always lived his life to the fullest. He was a member of the American Legion at Sandy Run and he had many hobbies including golf, boating and was always building or re-building something in his workshop. Those who knew and loved John will always remember his fun-loving attitude, his smile and his passion for everything and everyone in his life.
John and Flora attended New Hope Church in Gaston and enjoyed the weekly inspiration provided by Pastor Ashton Fergin.
Viewing will be at Moseley Funeral Home located at 914 Meeting St., West Columbia, for an hour, starting at 1:00PM, on Tuesday, December 13th with a Service to follow.
