Mr. John Beryl Gaskins II passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the age of 98. Born in Hyman, SC on August 5, 1917 to the late William Waltzie and Melinda (Lennie) Lee Wise Gaskins.

He is survived by his children, John B. Gaskins III and Melinda Edens Williams (Phillip); grandson, Jason Williams; nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, E Lois A. McElveen Gaskins.

John affectionately known as JB had a long career. Served in World War II as a Medic and after the war he served in the Army Reserves as a teacher of X-Ray, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was Chief X-Ray Technician for the Veterans Administration until his retirement then went to work for Cinecath Imaging. John and Lois were antique dealers for many years and John was a furniture builder and refinisher also an inventor.

A funeral service for John Beryl Gaskins II, of West Columbia, will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, with a visitation with family 1hr prior, at First Baptist Church of West Columbia, 400 State St, West Columbia, SC 29169, with Dr. Bill Drees officiating. Burial will follow the service at Celestial Memorial Gardens. Memorials in memory of John Gaskins made be made to: First Baptist Church of West Columbia, P.O. Box 4898, West Columbia, SC  29171.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort in the resurrection promise at John 5;28,29 that reads; "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming when all that are in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."
